Yogurt prevents hypertension

Researchers from the American Heart Association (AHA) discovered that women who consumed at least five servings of yogurt a week maintained normal blood pressure.

According to the AHA, high blood pressure makes the heart work harder, calcifies arteries and increases the risk of brain hemorrhage and kidney disease.

 

When untreated, high blood pressure leads to heart and kidney problems, stroke and blindness.
Early studies have concluded that dairy products help reduce hypertension in at-risk adults. However, very few studies have examined the effects of yogurt only.

Researchers analyzed the data from two 25 year studies financed by the National Dairy Council. The first study involved only women aged 25 to 50. The second study involved only men aged 25 to 55.
Over a period of 25 years of follow-up, a total of 76,000 of the participants involved in both studies
